Onna-bugeisha

Well a month goes by just like that. So far this month the painting has gone well. Started playing Test of Honour after managing to pick up some second hand first edition boxes at a really good price. So have been working on my Onnna-Bugeshia. I've probably now got enough models to do a full Hail Ceasar army now as well.

Had my first real game on Friday night. Played a straight out kill everything which was really brutal on both sides. I got completely wiped out, couldn’t hit a broadside of a battleship while standing next to it. I did however do the honourable thing and pass almost every test of honour and stand their to get killed.  Fun game and good way to learn.

Second game was gets the objects and hold them at the end, which I ended up winning. After learning a few things from the first game on how to run my Onna-bugeashia.

I got inspired by Bryan and is amazing display board for his Goblin King Lord of the Ring army he had out the other month at the club, so have started building a display board for the Test of Honour Clan. Enough space for the onna-bugeisha, a Cavalry unit and either Ninjas or standard Samuari.

Found these little girls at our local supplier and just had to get them.

Spray Booth complete...almost.

So I did finish off the spray booth and have used it a couple of time already, still needs a little bit of extra work, e.g replace one old fan once the replacement arrive from china

Then I decided after using it a couple of times, that I need to add another LED light in the front which I picked up today. Overall I really pleased with the outcome and can now spend the winter spay painting with no worries about the weather outside

Onna-Bugeisha

I played a couple of games at some stage last year and got the 2nd ed Rules for Test of Honour, but haven't done much with it since. I've accrued several boxes of samuri over the last 4 or 5 years with the plan to make a Hail Caesar army at some point. So it was an easy decision to get the rules to Test of Honour. Now with the lads talking about playing a few games soon, and needing something else to paint other that star wars figures I found myself getting some Onna-Bugeisha to add to my Samuari lit for Hail Ceaser and also for Test of Honour.

I picked up the Warlords of Erehwon box set which has some rather nice metal models. Very little flashing and really easy clean up. No on to painting.

Big stompy things

Almost a month since my last post.. crazy how time fly's'.  Last weekend at the South Auckland Club we had a huge game of Lord of the Rings. Thanks to the guys having supplying the armies. We ended up with 3 plyers each side.

Glen, Steven and Jason playing the good side and Bryan, Kaven and myself on the evil side.

Since i dont have any models for this game I got to use Glens finely crafted beast of trampling with a horde of Orc's. (Rhino type things which I cant recall what they were called)  Squashed Dwarfs everywhere, as I rolled really really well) It was alot of fun even if I did get wiped out to right down to the last orc. A really fun game, which I defiantly don't need to get into as I have way to many games already.  (Never say Never ) The good side prevailed in a blood bath of mayhem. Great day of gaming.

At last

At last they finally arrived. After my initial order 3 months ago failed..e.g. got canceled due to no stock. I found some online in Aussie and within a week I have them.
Also mounted some led lights into my spray booth and did a quick test wire up and all things going. So now I just have to solder up the wires and insulate then properly so I don't zap myself.

Zulu's

Gaming this year is down on previous years for sure, with the new house, COVID and all. But I have now completed my second army for the year. My Zulu's are now fully painted and based ready for some tabletop action. A total of 121 models. Admittedly I've included 25 from my Congo army that I started last year.

Thinking I'm gonna have to add some clump grass and long grass to some of the bases as its look a little bit bland looking at the photos,

Spray booth

This evening I finally got some time to try out my new table saw and started work on my spray booth. Used some salvaged building plywood from the rubbish skip next door. It's by no means perfect, but not bad for my first time on a table saw.

The extraction fan plate is from a server rack cabinet that I don't use, so just need to add some lights and wire it all up safely. Then figure out the best way to build the top and extraction tubes to go out the window.

Chasing Whisky

Watched the documentary the other night on Jack Daniel's called Chasing Whisky. An extremely well done doco I thought with some cool history. Been so long since I tried some I had to go buy a bottle... seems to have the same problem as most of my scotch .. it evaporates rather quickly.

TIE Interceptor

With my 3D printer really preforming well lately I'm still bashing out more terrain, this time a TIE Interceptor. I'm going to have to find time to edit the landing pad that I printed for the standard TIE fighter so I can have one to accommodate the Interceptor.

Meanwhile I got myself an early birthday present. A nice table saw, so making my spray booth is going to be so much easier. I'll actually be able to get straight cut edges. Even better, the building of a new house next door is tossing alot of plywood off cuts, so I'm gathering a good amount of free materials for future projects.

on the home front , I finally got around to putting the letter box in place over the weekend. So far its settled in nicely and hasn't moved. Due to the fact that the main service lines go right under it I haven't concreated it in. Pegged in place and screwed in tight.  Next mission is gonna be the driveway garden ... next summer perhaps.

Now onto planning the Droid list for Saturdays Club day.

Tie Fighter

Almost finished the Tie Fighter and landing platform. Just need to decide on how I'll deal with the stairs and how to attach them. Will probably look at using some magnets as that will make it much easier to store and transport. The print of the TIE fighter was a bit fast and at 0.2 so the lines show up a bit, but still looks the part for a terrain piece.

Here's a size comparison with my AT-ST, its the one in the low position, so the TIE Fighter is just a smidge smaller un height.

Terrain Day

With ANZAC day holiday today, I spent it painting all the terrain I have been printing over the last few months, well at least some it. And of course I'm printing more as at the moment, currently on teh printer plate is different style Tie Fighter.

Started out with the landing pad and moved onto a load of scatter terrain in the form of boxes and crates etc, then moved to painting the Tie Fighter and it's platform, along with more work on my second AT-ST. The barricades still need alot of work, they aren't that inspiring to paint. A productive day off work for sure.
